I have a cousin, Nikki, who 1. has not visited / hasn't visited (visit, not) us for many years as she is from Jersey City, New Jersey. However, we 2. have been writing / 've been writing (write) each other long letters regularly since we were ten years old.
I think I 3. have not / haven't (have, not) ever had a more loyal friend than her. She 4. has (start) just started her university studies this year and she 5. has been / 's been (be) very happy with her choice of school.
Student life 6. has proven / 's proven / has proved (prove) to be very exciting, although there 7. have been / 've been (be) minor setbacks, too.
And what 8. have (think) Nikki’s friends thought about starting their studies?
Nikki 9. has missed (miss) her friends a lot as many of them 10. have decided (decide) to stay in Jersey City and they 11. have taken (take) courses at the local community college. Nikki’s BFF Deanna 12. has not enrolled (enrol, not) anywhere yet.
But 13. hasn't (say, not) Deanna always said that the Hair Design School might just be for her?
Nikki 14. has not wanted / hasn't wanted / hasn’t wanted (want, not) to ask her about it recently, because everybody else keeps asking Deanna: “15. have (make, not) you not made up your mind yet?”
So, Deanna 16. has still been living (live) with her parents for this year, but luckily Nikki’s new apartment is not too far from Jersey City and she 17. has been able to (be able to) visit her friends quite often.
She now lives in the small town of Princeton. It may be a small place, but the university is quite famous. It was already founded in 1746, but they 18. have (allow) only allowed women to study there since 1969.
19. Have (hear, not) you not heard of Princeton before? I’m sure you must have! How about Harvard or Yale?
