BUT: public

NB! friendly / silly / lively / lovely = adjektiiveja
She smiled at us in a friendly way / manner / fashion.

adjektiivi = adverbi:
Valtteri Bottas is a fast driver. He drives very fast.
He works hard. He is a hard worker.

BUT: hardly  = barely = scarcely = TUSKIN: He hardly works.

They are similar TO one another.
superior to s-g / inferior to s-g
He felt superior to the others.
I used to feel inferior to her.
