Group 5: Social studies - What can we learn from each other?

Social studies - What can we learn from each other?

In UN´s World Happiness Report 2018 Finland was the happiest and Germany 15th happiest country in the whole world. Clearly we have arranged our socities quite well because we do so good in listings like this. But could we still learn something from each other about how to arrange our socities? Could we be happier?

We do this in two parts: first part in Finland and second in Germany.

  1. Your job is to familiarize yourselves with Finnish and German socities (or parts of those) and figure out how our socities make our happiness possible.
  1. This can be as theoretical or practical you want it to be. You can read studies and reports or/and maybe interview Finnish people about happiness or/and visit places that Finnish people appreciate/makes them happy.
  1. But the most important thing is to find out what makes happiness possible in Finland and in Germany – is it excellent schools, health care, standard of living, nature or something else?
  1. Prepare a presentation where you present your findings. You can decide yourselves how to report your findings: typical PowerPoint-presentation, a short-film, a play or something totally different.
