Erasmus KA1 mobility project!

Development of a working culture according to the new curriculum in our school community - focusing on internationality!

Our KA1 project "Development of a working culture according to the new curriculum in our school of community, focusing on internationality" offers two different types of further training opportunities for our staff 1) Job shadowing visits to our partner schools in Bulgaria, Iceland and France 2) Erasmus + courses in Italy and Slovenia.

The municipality of Säkylä is located in the southern part of the province of Satakunta in western Finland. The nearest major cities are Rauma, west of Säkylä, and Turku, south of Säkylä. The municipalities of Säkylä and Köyliö formed municipal union in 2016. New municipality was named Säkylä. The population is now 6988 inhabitants. The landscape of the municipality is marked by the largest lake in Western Finland Lake Pyhäjärvi, Säkylä ridge and extensive fields.
The school building and its yard areas were renovated in 2011. The Lalli upper secondary school in Köyliö was merged into the Säkylä upper secondary school in conjunction with the municipal union. Now there are 190 pupils and 27 teachers in the school. Säkylä municipal decision-makers have invested a lot in municipal educational institutions and teaching. Our schools have new teaching facilities, teaching materials and ICT tools. The number of subjects offered to students is wide. Teachers have the opportunity to develop their professional skills by participating in supplemantary training. The starting point for developing a school system is to provide the school pupils with a good general basis for later studies.
The international co-operation has been very limited in the upper secondary school. However, we have good capacity to increase our internationalization, because our language supply is versatile and our students and our teachers are motivated to work for it. The aim of this project is to develop a functional culture in our school based on the new curriculum, focusing on its internationalization. We expect the project to have a positive impacts on our learning community, well-being, cultural diversity as well as linguistic awareness. We strive to increase the internationalization of our school. Our project enhances the well-being of our students and teachers and enables the professional development of our entire staff. It broadens the perception of teaching, teaching methods, and international co-operation. The project opens up a good chance of building a European co-operation network. The impact of our internationalization will be reflected in the whole multinational culture of our education in Säkylä. It also improves the image of the entire municipality.

Project funding enables the mobility of eight teachers. Four of them attend a job shadowing visit and four attend the Erasmus + course.
Our intention is to build cooperation with European schools. In the future, we will make a Erasmus+ KA2 application that will allow pupils to visit European schools.
