Finland has a high standard of living, which brings us also many chronic diseases (kansantauteja) such as:

1. Allergies and asthma
2. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs)
3. Diabetes
4. Cardiovascular diseases
5. Cancer
6. Mental disorders

Work in a group of 2-3. Choose one of the Finnish chronic diseases and make a poster of it. Answer the following questions:

• Describe the disease/disorder. How does it onset? Is it innate or acquired? What are the risk factors that increase the probability of the disease? What are the symptoms?
• How much does the disease/disorder cost for the society approximately? This means the cost for treatment, cost of losses in labor input etc.
• How do you treat the illness? Is it incurable?
• Why is this disease typical for countries with high standard of living? Why don’t the poorer countries suffer from it as much?
• Find a news article concerning this disease, print it and add it to your poster.
• Find pictures and add them to your poster.
• GIVE FIVE ADVICES: How can you prevent this illness from onsetting?
• Write down the sources you used. The sources must include one internet source, one written (on paper) source and one video
