Example proposition: E-cigarettes should be banned in Finland
Example affirmative: E-cigarettes are especially common amongst teenagers, and as such they should be banned to protect the safety of our youth. They contain less nicotine than regular cigarettes but are nonetheless addictive and bad for one’s health. Furthermore, e-cigarettes are typically flavored in a way that disguises their toxicity, which arguably makes them even more dangerous than regular cigarettes. E-cigarettes of poor quality have also been known to explode and cause bodily harm to their users.
Example negative: E-cigarettes are no more dangerous than regular cigarettes, which are available in every convenience store in Finland. In fact, E-cigarettes can offer a safer alternative for those who are recovering from nicotine addiction. They may seem more appealing to the youth, but then again, teenagers are known to use alcohol, snus and regular cigarettes as well – items that are also not banned in Finland. Whatever harm E-cigarettes may cause could be effectively combatted with closer supervision and sales regulations instead of a full ban.
