A mini-research

Now you can be a scientist!

1. Choose a topic of your research. (What you would like to research? Keep it simple and small)
2. Make a research question. Do not make a question you can answer "yes" or "no" to.
3. Make a hypothesis. What do you think the answer to your research question could be?
4. Collect your data. Measure or observe.
5. Answer your research question with your data and results.
6. Compare the result to your hypothesis. 
7. Make a short conclusion.

Think about the following situations. Are they examples of experimental or observational research?
a) Mapping the vegetation of a park.
b) Studying the efficiency of a bactericidal antibiotic.
c) Finding out the diet of a moose species.
d) Studying the fish species of a lake.
e) Comparing the yields of different species of grain.
f) Discovering the structure of a plankton organism.
g) Studying the influence of an insect-eating bird on the insect species of a certain area.
h) Comparing the survival of different plankton species in different acidity levels.
