The Kolmekuutoset ("Three-sixes") children's choir began its activities in 1980. As its name suggests, the choir's singers are students in grades 3-6 of Jyväskylä city schools. Some of the students study in the music classes of Kypärämäki School and other singers are selected in annual auditions.

The choir has approximately 30-40 singers aged 9-12, depending on the year. The choir is led by Suvi Airaksinen and Hilda Ivars. Hilda Ivars acts as the choir's sound designer. In Kolmekuutoset, students get used to working in a choir and as their skills progress, they have the opportunity to apply to join the representative choir Vox Aurea.

The Kolmekuutoset repertoire includes traditional children's choir songs, folk songs, music from Finland and abroad, and spiritual music.
The choir's performances have been focused on the Jyväskylä region and Finland, but over the years it has also given concerts in Hungary, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Italy and the Czech Republic.
