Parenting in Finland – Videos

Parenting in Finland – Videos

The Parenting in Finland model provides information about the Finnish service system for families with children and about support for parenting. The model is especially aimed at multicultural families, but the videos can also be used more broadly to describe the Finnish service system. The goal of the videos is to increase parents’ trust in authorities, as well as to strengthen participants’ knowledge related to parenting and child-rearing and their sense of competence as parents.

The Parenting in Finland videos are open to everyone and have been developed for professionals who work with multicultural families. The videos can be used, for example, in client work, parent evenings, and training events.

The themes of the videos include child protection, social and healthcare services, and how the police, schools, and early childhood education operate in Finland. Other topics include encouraging parenting, growing up between two cultures, and differences and insights related to child-rearing. The videos feature professionals from different fields, as well as a mother and young people who share their experiences of living between two cultures.
