The Assignment

Make a Power Point presentation about your given source of energy.

You have 6 lessons to prepare (and rehearse!) the presentation.

Find out:

  • How has the use of your source developed through history? When was it discovered, how much has it been used etc.
  • Is your source renewable or non-renewable? Explain!
  • What is the percentage of your source? (How much of world energy consumption is produced with this method: find a pie chart, world energy sources)
  • How is electricity converted (how do you get electricity) out of this source?
  • For what purposes do we mostly use energy from this source? Factories, homes, heating, etc.
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of this source?

 Remember to cite your sources!

How to make a good PP-presentation?

  • Make it easy to read from a distance.
  • The text should not be too small and there shouldn´t be too much text (only the most important points!).
  • Make it appealing by adding pictures, colours, diagrams etc…
  • Make it logical.
  • Practice giving your presentation beforehand! Pay attention especially to names and numbers and make sure you know how to pronounce them.
  • Don't read directly from the slides! If you really feel the need, you can have separate notes, where you have more information. You can ask the teacher to print your notes for you.
  • Work as a team! Check your groupmates' slides as well, and point out if there's something missing or that's difficult to understand.
-> The purpose of the slides is to help the audience follow and understand your presentation better. They should not have to focus on reading the slides, which takes away from listening to you.
