Welcome to the home page of Kontioniemi school

Kontioniemi school has been taken into use in August 2018. The school is a local school open to all the students of the nearby area from grades 1 through 6. During the school year 2022-23 the school has 95 comprehensive school students and 14 pre-primary students.

Kontioniemi school is a modern village school, and its basic principles are child-initiated pedagogies and communality. Working together in a safe and caring environment, we aim to find the joy and enthusiasm of learning. In this way we support the lifelong learning, growth and well-being of children. In Kontioniemi school we emphasize the principle of positive upbringing, and the school is a part of the School-Wide Positive Behavior Support project. By team-teaching the expertise of the school staff is used efficiently and teaching is made as activating as possible. Active peer support cooperation and flexible pre-primary and primary teaching enable different aged learners to work together.

Kontioniemi school offers an active learning environment that is close to nature. We have flexible indoor facilities, and our grounds offer possibilities for versatile outdoor activities and sports. We use up-to-date IT technology. The school functions as the heart of the village and cooperation with homes and local stakeholders is active.
