Grade 1

  • understands familiar expressions and basic phrases
  • can interact in a simple way through repetition (for example colours, numbers, family members)
  • has resilence in learning English and doesn't get stressed when they don't understand everything and is curious to learn English.

Grade 2

  • understands and uses sentences and frequently used expressions that are relevant to school, family and freetime
  • can read and understand simple sentences and stories
  • can write simple sentences and stories

Grade 3

  • can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to school, family and freetime
  • can interact with a degree of fluency and give input to the discussion
  • can read and understand different kinds of texts and answer questions from those texts
  • can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. 
  • can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Grade 4

  • can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  • can read and understand different kinds of texts and answer questions from those texts in more detail with evidence from the text.
  • can produce different kinds of texts (for example stories, poems, newspaper articles, instructions)
  • can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans in more detail.

Grade 5

  • can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
  • can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognise the main ideas of the text.
  • can produce clear and longer understandable texts on various topics.

Grade 6

  • can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
  • can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognise the main ideas of the text.
  • can produce clear and longer understandable texts on various topics.
