NORDPLUS ADULT PROJECT 2024–2026

NPAD-2024/10102

Navigating mis- and disinformation at an older age: Enhancing democratic participation, social sustainability, and digital skills through creative workshops and good practices.

This initiative aims to enhance older adults' digital skills and democratic participation. Central to this effort is sharing good practices for digital skills training and creating an open-access Media Awareness Learning Kit, designed to empower other organizations and local communities
to host events and workshops on the topic. This versatile and comprehensive Learning Kit addresses the urgent need to support older adults in sorting truth effectively from fiction, while also acknowledging the growing role of artificial intelligence in the spread of false information. This topic is timely and important, as older adults are a growing demographic often targeted by disinformation campaigns.

The primary goal is to promote accurate information discernment among older adults and enhance their ability to confidently identify and reject false information. This, in turn, will support their active citizenship, participation in society and smart consumerism. It will also foster a more informed and resilient senior citizenry, while nurturing fair societies and social sustainability. By equipping local communities and different organizations with the tools to conduct educational sessions around mis- and disinformation, the initiative aims to spread awareness and skills among older adults, creating an impact outlasting the project time.

During the project, all partners will collect good practices from digital skills training. This includes organizing creative workshops in each country. With the knowledge and feedback gained from these workshops, all partners will contribute to creating the Media Awareness Learning Kit. All results will be published in a user-friendly platform where materials can be easily downloaded.
