The history of Rauman Lyseon lukio in a nutshell

School history in Rauma has its beginnings in the Middle Ages when a monastery school operated in the premises of the Franciscan monastery in Rauma. During the 19th century education in Rauma was drastically expanded with the opening of many new schools for several different grades and during the 20th century middle level education in Rauma was significantly improved with new upper secondary schools as well as major changes in the already existing schools.

Rauman lukio itself has its roots in the three previous upper secondary schools in Rauma: Rauman yhteislyseon lukio, which was informally known as RYLL, Uotilanrinteen lukio (informally ULU) and Raumanmeren lukio. These three different upper secondary schools were merged together in 2007 to form the one and only school in Rauma that provides education that aims to form the basis for future university studies: Rauman Lyseon lukio.
