SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES OVERVIEW: 2026–2027

You are always welcome to see your school nurse whenever you have questions related to health and wellbeing.

  • health checks in grades 1–9
  • vaccinations
  • lifestyle habits, such as nutrition, sleep, exercise and intoxicating substances
  • monitoring of growth and development
  • relationships with other people
  • sexuality, birth control, puberty
  • stress, anxiety, depression, restlessness or managing your daily life

You do not need to wait for a separate invitation. You can book an appointment yourself or arrive during walk-in hours without an appointment.

  • Lunna is the new secure digital service platform in our wellbeing services county. You can use Lunna in the mobile app or in a web browser. The use of Lunna requires strong authentication. https://lunna.suomisote.fi/
  • Should you wish to act on behalf of your child, you need to add them to your profile. More information: video with instructions on how to act on behalf of someone else in Lunna (external link)
  • In Lunna, you can send your own school nurse a non-urgent message or a background information questionnaire before a health check. We will get back to you within three weekdays.
  • In school healthcare, children in grades 1, 5 and 8 are invited to extensive health checks, for which you need to fill in an electronic background information questionnaire beforehand. The school nurse sends you through Wilma a separate message with a schedule and instructions for the health checks, but you can also book an appointment according to your needs whenever you wish to.
  • In other grades, there will also be electronic questionnaires on your child’s wellbeing, sent to you with instructions in a Wilma message. Your answers help us adapt the health check according to your child’s needs and estimate when a health check should be conducted.
  • Contact details and walk-in hours can be found on the school’s website and on notice boards.
  • Book an appointment with your school nurse by phone or through Lunna at https://lunna.suomisote.fi/. Please remember to book the appointment using your child's name and personal identity code: Acting on behalf of another individual in social and health services | Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County.
  • Children are invited to dental examinations at the ages of 7, 9, 12 and 15. Further information about oral healthcare services can be found at: Dental care | Western Uusimaa Wellbeing County. Primary and lower secondary students receive oral healthcare services free of charge.

Parents are welcome to attend their child's health check either in person or remotely. If you wish to attend a scheduled appointment remotely, please contact the nurse well in advance.
