Gamete formation and fertilization. Male parent cell divides into four sperm cells and female parent cell transforms into an ovum. During fertilization the fastest sperm cell enters the ovum and the two nuclei are fused together. After fertilization the egg cell starts to divide and an embryo consisting of thousands of cells is formed.
