Kenya is known all over the world for its black tea. Tea wasn't invented in Kenya, though. It was invented more than 5,000 years ago in China. It was brought to Kenya in 1903. Kenyans weren't taught how to make tea by the Chinese, but tea was introduced to Kenya by some Indian immigrants. A lot of spices are usually put into Indian tea, but they aren't used in Kenyan tea. In Kenya, tea with milk and sugar is usually called chai. It is made from a mix of tea leaves, sugar and milk. In Kenya, guests aren't usually served coffee - they are served tea. Tea is served with every meal from breakfast to dinner. Tea is even drunk before going to bed.
