Run a forest biodiversity -quick test in one of the forests nearby your home.
Explore a forest. Tick each of the features which you can spot in the forest.__ Many trees in different sizes
__ Big deciduous trees (eg. birches, alder, aspen)
__ Dead trees standing, some have fallen down
__ No tree stumps, which means there are no signs of trees been cut off
__ Burned trees here and there
__ A brook or a spring
__ Holes in the trees made by the woodpeckers
__ There is beard moss or polypore growing on the trees' trunks
__ Flying squirrel spotted which can relate to an old forest
If you can find at least four different features from the list, it implies that the forest is valuable from the forest biodiversity point of view.
