1st trip to Storsteinnes (Valtimolaiset Storsteinnesissa) October 2017

Out trip to Storsteinnes

The first trip in this project took place in October 2017. Eleven students and two teachers from our school went to Storsteinnes. The trip took us 13 hours and we arrived in Storsteinnes late in the evening on Monday 23rd on October. The students were picked up from Storsteinnes skole by their host families.

On Tuesday morning there was an opening ceremony at the school with different activities and Norweigian folk dancing. We also had a workshop about growing up in small Villagessa.  In the afternoon we made some Sami- handicrafts.

On Wednesday we visited Tromssa. We went to the Science center and The Northern lights Planetarium. In the afternoon we had some time to go shopping in Jekta.

On Thursday there was a farm visit and we could watch as the farmers slaughtered an ox. This is part on the norweigian students’ school curriculum in their last year on school. Some on our students were interviwed for the local newspaper. It was a long walk to the farm and back to school. In the evening there was a farewell party at the school with pizza, soda, diplomas and photos.

The week was a wonderful experience and the landscape in Norway really melted our hearts - and filled our cameras!
