Introduction
| Overview This section introduces Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and the role of CLIL in the City of Jyväskylä. CLIL CLIL is a dual-focused educational innovation that supports the learning of school subjects through a foreign language. Many subjects have been used for CLIL in Finland, from sports classes to chemistry lessons. CLIL classes are based on the Finnish curriculum with the foreign language providing the main tool for teaching, learning and thinking. The Jyväskylä CLIL Cascade The Jyväskylä CLIL Cascade is a professional partnership between Jyväskylä-based teachers, teacher trainees and researchers. It is a place where expertise is shared and enhanced to create a sense of purpose and progress between the different educational partners. The aim of the Jyväskylä CLIL Cascade is to create a community in which teaching resources are shared and maximised to create the best CLIL learning experiences possible for Jyväskylä pupils. By working together we hope to build an integrated CLIL pathway for pupils to follow through the different stages of basic and higher education. |
