Pink Floyd on yksi rockin suurimmista nimistä. Sitä pidetään yhtenä musiikillisesti vaikutusvaltaisimmista yhtyeistä, ja sen levyjä on myyty yli 250 miljoonaa mailmanlaajuisesti. Suosiostaan huolimatta yhtyeen musiikki on psykedeelisvaikutteista progressiivista rockia. Yhtye on tunnettu konseptialbumeistaan, kuten The Wall, ja sen albumi vuodelta 1973, Dark Side Of The Moon, on yksi ikonisimmista rock-albumeista The Beatlesin Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ja The Eaglesin Hotel California ohella.

Vuonna 1969 yhtye toteutti vitsinä BBC:n ohjelmaan joululaulun. Humoristisesta kappaleesta on säilynyt äänitys vuodelta 1975, jossa yhtyeen rumpali Nick Mason laulaa. Tämä on harvoja kappaleita missä hänen lauluaan kuuluu. Biisi ei ole ehkä kummoinen, mutta se on kiinnostava kuriositeetti yhtyeen virallisten julkaisujen ulkopuolelta.
