ANTARTIDE

We arranged a meeting between the students

and some scientists that stayed several months
in Antarctica to study the climate change. For
example they studied how the melting of the
glaciers is killing the krill, that is the primary
source of food of many fishes, causing their
death too. The pupils were very interested and
had the occasion to do an interview and make
their questions to the scientists. During the
meeting the scientists underlined how the air
pollution affects Antarctica as well as
vegetation and animal life on the rest of our
planet. We are setting up another meeting on

February, but this time it will be online, with a
live connection with the scientists from the
Concordia ship. The students are very excited
for the next meeting and we can't wait to hear
from them.

Objectives:

Discovering how climate change and air pollution have effects even in
countries far away from us.

Transversal Competences:

Children had the occasion to do an interview. They asked questions to
the scientists,using specific languages.
After the meeting they prepared different forms of report.

Sources:

Through the flipped classroom methodology, pupils have been able to

Experts came to school and told us about their experiences in
Antarctica and the changes in that ecosystem.
