Stevland Hardaway Morris was born on May 13, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born prematurely and was given too much oxygen in the incubator, which caused him to become blind. But this never 1. discouraged him. He had a gift for music, which was from an early age. He taught himself how to play several instruments, including 2. keyboards. At the age of 11, he 3. auditioned for the Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. who signed him for his 4. label and a year later in 1962, his 5. debut album The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie Wonder was 6.released. Wonder also 7. composed many of the songs he played and the 8. pieces he wrote soon topped the charts. Wonder 9. proceeded to make dozens of hit songs over the decades. He is one of Motown's 10. major artists and he has won several awards for his music.
