International approach

In the free part of this theme, our children could choose a subject connected to the sea to work with. The teachers have divided them in little groups. They did little 'investigations' in small groups using their 21st century skills. They had to work together, use multimedia, solve problems, be creative etc.
All the children were very enthusiastic, they all have been through a good process in which they've learned a lot.
At the end all groups had to present their workpiece.
You can find the results below with a short description.

ebb and flow

This girls have investigated how ebb and flow works and what if there isn't ebb and flow??
They made a kind of puppet show, in this show they've integrated their information about the subject.

wadden islands

This girls did their investigation about the wadden islands. We have 5 wadden islands, they are very improtant for our country, the wadden sea is a natural heritage, a special area on which we should be careful on.

mounds

There are many villages in our region build on mounds. It was because of the water. When there was high water all people from a village went to the mound, usualle there is a church build on this mound. All people could find shelter there.

Dikes

A few groups have been worked on the subject dikes. Why are there dikes and what will happen if there aren't dikes? Is there another solution? They tried to build dikes of different materials to find out what's the most firm solution. They made films and a gameplay to present their results.

Mudflat walking, sealife and watersports

The last groups made presentations about the following subjects:
mudflat walking. Is it possible to do this everywhere?
Another group made a news broadcast about different watersports. And the last group did their investigation about sea life. What fish do there live in the sea. Can a fish who lives in salt water survive in sweet water?
