Forssa Meeting report

Programme

Forssa 2-7 May 2022

The project: Erasmus+ 2020-1-De03-KA229-077412_4, “Sustainable me – my power as a consumer”

Before the meeting in Forssa the students collected material about the agriculture in their countries and how it affects their lives. The material in form of videos, photos and surveys was then brought to Forssa for the students to work on in groups with students from multiple countries.

Monday 2.5

Monday was the travelling day. The groups arrived to Helsinki airport and were picked up by bus to Forssa. The head master, Simo Veistola, welcomed the groups in Helsinki.

At 19 all students went to Kuutamo (place where teenagers can spend time). There they ate pizza and played games like twister, pool and also danced. When they were going back to the hotel the Finnish students told little bit about Forssa´s history and the buildings in the Wahren. The teachers had a meeting about the programme of the week.

Tuesday 3.5

Tuesday morning started with a meeting to kick off the work in this mobility. The Finnish students presented the school for the visitors, and teachers also got acquinted to the school premises.

After this all the groups assembled back together to listen to a presentation about Finnish agriculture by the headmaster, Simo Veistola and a lecture on Adobe Premier by Jere Airamaa, an IT-person in Forssan yhteislyseo.

After the lectures the students formed groups to work on the topics of this meeting and to assemble a video presentation of the work done, which would be shared together at the end of this week. There were 6 international groups and the aim was to create a film with the title "Our local agricultures and us – how do we get ready for the future?“ that will be published on the websites of the attending schools.

The target groups for these presentations are other teenagers . The students can choose the type/genre (documentary, short film, commercial) of the film they want to create.

The focus is on how our schools and every student can change the local agriculture as a consumer.

After lunch the work continued. In the afternoon students and teachers were introduced to Finnish baseball by P E teacher Terhi Thil-Holmström. Something about the history and rules were told. Everyone had a oppoturnity to try to hit the ball with bat and come play the game! The introduction ended in a friendly match. It was also snowing during that activity! In the evening most of the people went bowling and ate in Hesburger.

Wednesday 4.5

On Wednesday students and teachers visited Turku. The weather was fine and after some free time to get to know Turku on our own, we had a guided tour in Turku Castle, and then all enjoyed lunch in a restaurant by the Castle.

In the afternoon the group visited Ruissalo National Park which gave us a chance to see some southern Finnish archipelagian nature.

The bus took us back to Forssa and everyone had a free evening to use as they wanted. Some people went to the cinema watch movie in the evening.

Thursday 5.5

On Thursday the work continued. Students had lunch at school and after some more work we headed to Eerikkilä (a Sport and Outdoor Resort in Tammela) in order to have a nice walk in the forest, followed by eating sausages and to grill marshmallows by the fire and then later sauna with a possibility to swim in the nearby lake and an evening snack. The rest of the evening we spent dancing (for ex. letkajenkka) before returning to Forssa.

Friday 6.5

On Friday the groups shared their presentations (videos) for the others. After the lunch at school we headed for Forssa.tv studio in Kehräämö in Forssa where some students were interviewed by one of the teachers in the Italian team, Salvatore Chinnici. Though only one student from each country was interviewed, the questions were discussed in groups before the interview.

In the afternoon a bus took our guests to Helsinki where they spent some time before returning home.
