Find your own field of study on the list below. There you will also find how you can say what you study and what you are going to be. After finding your own field of study, please do the exercise below the list.

Etsi oma opiskelualasi alla olevasta listasta. Löydät sieltä myös, miten voit sanot mitä opiskelet ja mikä sinusta tulee. Kun olet löytänyt oman opiskelualasi, tee listan alapuolella oleva tehtävä. 


Sosiaali- ja terveysalan perustutkinto - Vocational Qualification in Social and Health Care 

Opiskelen sosiaali- ja terveysalaa: I study social and health care. 

Erikoistun ikääntyvien hoidon ja kuntoutuksen osaamisalaan: I specialize in the competence area of care and rehabilitation for elderly people. 

Erikoistun lasten ja nuorten kasvatuksen ja hoidon osaamisalaan: I specialize in the competence area of children's and youth education and care. 

Erikoistun mielenterveys- ja päihdetyön osaamisalaan: I specialize in the competence area of mental health and substance abuse work. 

Erikoistun sairaanhoidon ja huolenpidon osaamisalaan: I specialize in the competence area of nursing and care. 

Erikoistun vammaistyön osaamisalaan:  I specialize in the competence area of care for the disabled. 

Minusta tulee lähihoitaja: I will be a practical nurse. 



Kasvatus- ja ohjausalan perustutkinto - Vocational Qualification in Education and Guidance 

Opiskelen nuoriso- ja yhteisöohjauksen / varhaiskasvatuksen ja perhetoiminnan osaamisalaa: I study youth and community instruction / early childhood education and care and family welfare. 

Minusta tulee nuoriso- ja yhteisöohjaaja / lastenohjaaja: I will be a youth and community instructor/communication and sign language instructor/children’s instructor. 

Osio 1: Tehtävä: What do you study? (kopio)

You are at work. Your boss comes in with three foreign visitors from an educational institute, and asks you to introduce yourself. Write or record the following introduction: 1) greet the visitors, 2) tell them your name, 3) tell them where you study, 4) what your field of study is, and 5) what you think about the studies.

  • Even if you do this by writing, make sure you know how to pronounce your field of study. If you are not sure how to pronounce your field of study, you can go to Google Translate, type the name of your field of study in the textbox and click the audio icon. (Make sure the language of the text box is English!)
  • You can use for example vocaroo.com to record your speech. After recording, click "Save & share" and copy the link, so you can submit your recording by pasting the link.
 

Olet töissä. Pomosi tulee sisään kolmen ulkomaalaisen vierailijan kanssa ja pyytää sinua esittelemään itsesi. Kirjoita tai äänitä seuraavanlainen lyhyt esittely 1) tervehdi vierailijoita, 2) kerro heille nimesi, 3) kerro heille, missä opiskelet, 4) mitä alaa opiskelet ja 5) mitä ajattelet opinnoistasi.

  • Vaikka tekisitä tämän kirjoittamalla, varmista, että osaat lausua oman opiskelualasi nimen. Jos et ole varma, miten oma opiskelualasi lausutaan englanniksi, voit mennä Google Kääntäjään, kirjoittaa opiskelualasi nimen tekstikenttään ja klikata kaiutin-kuvaketta (Valitse tekstikentän kieleksi englanti!)
  • Voit käyttää äänittämiseen esimerkiksi vocaroo.com. Äänittämisen jälkeen klikkaa "Save & share" ja kopioi linkki, niin voit palauttaa äänitteesi liittämällä linkin palautuskansioon "Palauta linkki".

Osio 2: Omasta työstä ja työtehtävistä kertominen (kopio)

Make sure you understand the following phrases that you can use when talking about your work. Then, do the exercises below.

Varmista, että ymmärrät seuraavat fraasit, joita voit käyttää kertoessasi työstäsi. Tee sitten alapuolella olevat tehtävät.
  • My name is... 
  • I am a (a profession), esim. I am a teacher. 
  • I work at (a company name), esim. I work at Poke vocational college.
  • I work in a (a place, not specific), esim. I work in a vocational college in Äänekoski.
  • I like (doing something).

  • I work shifts. 
  • I have regular working hours. 

Osio 2: Tehtävä: Another day at work (kopio)

Make yourself a list of different tasks you do in your work and find out what they are in English. Then, make a short video or write a text where you describe your typical day at work, in English: start with your name and profession, and then talk about what kind of tasks you do during the day. 

 

Tee itsellesi lista erilaisista työtehtävistä, joita työhösi kuuluu, ja selvitä, mitä ne ovat englanniksi. Tee sitten lyhyt video tai kirjoita teksti, jossa kuvailet tavallista työpäivääsi englanniksi: aloita kertomalla nimesi ja ammattisi, ja kerro sitten minkälaisia tehtäviä teet päivän aikana.

Osio 3: Tehtävä: My CV (kopio)

A Curriculum Vitae (CV), or resume, is a document where you present your background, skills and accomplishments when you are applying for a job. In your CV you list shortly and clearly your contact details, education, work experience, skills such as language skills, computer skills, professional skills etc.

Write your own CV in English. You can use the CV of the link before as an example.


Ansioluettelo eli CV on dokumentti, jossa esittelet oman taustasi, taitosi ja saavutuksesi kun haet työpaikkaa. CV:ssä listaat lyhyesti ja selkeästi yhteystietosi, koulutuksesi, työkokemuksesi, osaamisesi kuten kielitaidon, tietotekniset taidot, ammatillisen osaamisen jne.

Kirjoita itsellesi CV englanniksi. Voit käyttää aiemmin sivulla linkissä ollutta CV:tä esimerkkinä tai jos olet esimerkiksi äidinkielen kurssilla kirjoittanut CV:n, voit käyttää sitä pohjana.
