As the second oldest Finnish speaking high school in the world (founded 1865), Joensuun lyseon lukio proudly stands on its traditions while bravely moving into the future.

The “Spirit of Lyseo” at Joensuun lyseon lukio is exemplified in both the daily interactions among students and staff as well as the numerous extracurricular activities.

Lyseon lukio was and still is extremely proud to have been chosen as the most active high school in the country by the Fininsh Board of Education. In their words: “Your school is an excellent example of an active and creative institution with a caring atmosphere. Your working methods are versatile, your culture is communal and you have an active student body that constantly renews itself. You constantly interact with the surrounding community and your international action with projects excellently lend itself to cooperation worldwide.”
