The 25th of March is a National Holiday in Greece

Actually it is a double holiday: a national and a religious one: we honour the Declaration of Revolution against the 400-year-Ottoman occupation on 25th March 1821 and we also celebrate the Annunciation from Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she should become the Mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The revolution of 1821 became a successful War of Independence (1821-1830) which is honoured by all Greeks wherever they are. Celebrations take place all over Greece with the event of the Great Parade in Athens being the climax of this historical day. Our school celebrated this day with performances, poems and more!

24th March : in the 3rd primary school , Agii Anargyri pupils presented a theatrical performance to honour the heroes of 1821 who sacrificed their lives for the Independence of our country.
They marched in the schoolyard to prepare themselves for the big parade of the 25th March.
The younger ones also painted pictures with Virgin Mary and the heroes of 1821.
