Nickname Sunshine; a true story

For those who visit are visiting|visit my blog for the first time:
This blog belongs to me, a teenage girl from Mosul in Iraq. I am doing|do very well at school although we have many difficulties in life. For instance, we don't have|don't get electricity for more than 60 minutes a day. Some mornings, I am not able to go to school because soldiers are shooting outside.
One morning some terrorists attacked the police station near my house, which was very scary. There had been trouble before, but it hadn't affected our lives so badly. I was walking to the school when guns were fired, only a few hundred meters away.
This summer I wasn't able to sleep in my room because of all the shooting. I have become a very anxious person, I worry especially about my family's safety and my school. When I feel hopeless, I keep saying to myself: I can do it, I won't give up. I have decided that optimism is my strategy!
This blog has helped me to express my thoughts and feelings to the world. It has brpught me many new friends from all over the world. My blog has been mentioned on international TV a couple of times. Tomorrow I will be interviewed for an American magazine via e-mail. If we get enough electricity tomorrow, I will be able to answer the questions for the interview.
If the situation in Iraq changed for the better, I wouldn' have to worry anymore. In the future, I would like to be become an engineer or a pharmacist. That's why I have studied very hard all these years, but this year I will work even harder. If I manage to get into a college after high school, my biggest dream will come true!
