Looking for Top-line Teachers in Muscat

Finland-Oman School is a new international school located in Muscat, Oman, which will open in September 2018. The school will operate as a fusion of the Finnish National Core Curriculum and the Oman Bilingual Curriculum.

The primary task of the school is to provide quality education as well as to support and develop the education system of Oman.

For the first academic year 2018-19, the school hosts Kindergarten Grades KG 1 and KG 2 (for ages 3-5) and Primary School Grades 1-4, (ages 5-9). At the beginning the school will have approximately 250 students and 30 pedagogical staff, half of whom will be from Finland.

We are looking for KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS, CLASS TEACHERS and SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS starting in August 2018 at the Finland-Oman School, Muscat. Double degrees in KG and primary education are given preference.

We are looking for enthusiastic members for our team, who

  • have a passion for education and teaching
  • facilitate age-appropriate active learning
  • are able to work under pressure
  • emphasise pedagogical play
  • can act as mentors for qualified local teachers
  • are team workers in and out of the classroom
  • have solid working proficiency in English

What is expected?

Class Teacher and Kindergarten Teacher

  • Planning and implementing teaching according to the school curriculum and pedagogical approach
  • Continuous student assessment, follow-up and recording of student development
  • Student supervision
  • Contribution to the school development work
  • Weekly home-school communication with parents
  • Any other duties allocated by the school admin
  • Substitution of other teachers as needed

 Special Education Teacher (SEN):

  • Supporting students in collaboration with teachers, learning assistants and parents
  • Expertise in student admission through student testing and results analysis
  • Implementing and supporting student testing according to school SEN policies
  • Being active members in the Student Welfare Team
  • Contribution to school development work with a focus on SEN structures
  • Developing Extended Personal Learning Plans (EPLP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Substitution of other teachers as needed
  • Any other duties allocated by the school admin
All teachers are expected to prove their English skills by a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 (or equivalent).
