Who is it for

Immigrant women who need further Finnish language instruction can register for the training. Excluded are women who are entitled to an integration plan and whose studies are fully funded by the state.

The target group includes, for example:

  • Women who are working or looking for work but do not yet know enough Finnish or Swedish to work in their own field.
  • Women who are studying or have graduated from vocational or higher education but do not yet know enough of the language to function in the workplace.
  • Women who have come to Finland through international recruitment and need further language training for working life.
  • Women who are not working and are, for example, stay-at-home mothers.
  • Women who have been in Finland for a long time, and whose right to an integration plan has ended.
  • Literacy skills are required.
  • Language proficiency approximately A1.3: instruction is in Finnish.
A1.3 means that you can use very simple sentences well. You can understand and use Finnish in everyday basic situations. For example, you can talk about yourself and ask small questions, but you do not yet know much. You can follow slow Finnish-language teaching.

Unemployment benefit
You can attend the course and receive unemployment benefits because the course is short-term (10 weeks). You need to confirm this with your contact person at the TE Office.
