Goal: to create a Best Practice Teaching Guide in Music Education
How?
Using the national music repertoire of the national heritage of each country = Folksongs, national composers, cultural trends in each country.
This repertoire will be taken into pedagogic use by benefiting the expertise of each participating partner.
Every partner will create a study pack sharing its expertise in the above mentioned music education sectors. The material used in the study pack will be chosen from the national heritage music material in each country (folk songs and pieces by national composers).
The study packs will be shared with all the partners. Every partner organisation will organise a 24 -36 hours ONLINE-course for 8 students and 3 teachers involved in each country. This means that during two years in each country will be five ONLINE courses (Including the study pack made in the own country). One teacher and three students from each country will participate in the Masterclasses held in partner countries. The students and teachers can be the same or different in different masterclasses. It’s the partners’ own choice if they decide to send more participants using the organisational or multiplier event money.
The study packs will be divided in three categories:
Basic level
Two folk songs from each country, ten songs together, used as a pedagogic material of music theory. Only human voice will be used without instruments.
The responsible partner: Latvia
Intermediate level
National heritage material used in instrumental pedagogy.
The responsible partners: Italy and Spain
Advanced level
National heritage material triggering the own creativity of music students.
The responsible partners: Belgium and Finland
Mobilities:
05-2021 Kick-off Meeting in Finland
- Transnational Project Meeting (2 adults from each country)
Most probably, this will be held virtually ONLINE
- Short-term joint staff training events ( 3 adults from each country)
= five adults from each country all together (though the members of the meetings A and B can be the same persons if the partner decides so)
01-2022, Meeting in Belgium, Music as improvisation of Franco- Flemish polyphony
- Transnational Project Meeting (2 adults from each country)
- Blended mobility of school learners, Masterclass for Improving Music Education (1 adult and three students from each country)
Multiplier Event, dissemination (= an event where the results of the project will be told to everybody interested)
05-2022 Meeting in Latvia, Folk Music Performance as European Heritage
- Transnational Projects Meeting, (2 adults from each country)
- Blended mobility of school learners, Masterclass for Improving Music Education (1 adult and three students from each country)
Multiplier Event
06-2022 Italy, Viva V.E.R.D.I.!
Note: No transnational project meetings in Italy
- Blended mobility of school learners Masterclass for Improving Music Education (1 adult and three students from each country)
It’s not maybe the best choice to send only one teacher to Italy, but the organisation can use organisational or multiplier event money to send more teachers. Maybe the mobilities saved from the virtual kick-off meeting in Finland could be used here.
Multiplier Event
01-2023 Spain, Spanish Zarzuela Repertoire for Symphonic Band Instruments
- Blended mobility of school learners, Masterclass for Improving Music Education (1 adult and three students from each country)
It’s not maybe the best choice to send only one teacher to Spain, but the organisation can use organisational or multiplier event money to send more teachers. Maybe the mobilities saved from the virtual kick-off meeting in Finland could be used here.
Multiplier Event
03-2023 Final Meeting in Finland, Creativity in Music Composition
- Transnational Project Meeting (2 adults from each country)
- Blended mobility of school learners, Masterclass for Improving Music Education (1 adult and three students from each country)
The Finnish Ylä-Savon Musiikkiopisto will collect and share with other project partners a collection of songs from the Kalevala, different folk songs and material from the Finnish national romantic era with other partners. Each partner will choose one piece and recompose it by connecting it with a piece representing the heritage of this other partner’s culture.
The composing and arranging work will be done collectively as part of the music theory teaching of the school. This process makes it possible to see and hear the Finnish heritage in European eyes and ears. By doing this the objective is to show both to the audience and the participants of the project that the national heritage of each European country could be seen as part of a larger European cultural treasure. The concert in Finland will be performed by the students and teachers participating the event.
Multiplier Event
In addition to this, after each Project Meeting (Latvia, Belgium, Finland) the two teachers, who attended the meetings will organise four one-day workshops to transfer the good practices they have learnt. The target audience will consist of music pedagogs. The idea is to reach every day eight music teachers in the field of music education. This means 4 x 8 teachers = 32 teachers after each meeting. Together 3 x 32 teachers = 96 teachers in each country. (Maybe the teachers could be the same after each meeting.)
