Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

Content and Language Integrated learning (CLIL) is a dual-focused
educational approach in which an additional language is used for
the learning and teaching of both content and language.

Overview

The CLIL 9 2018 Teaching through English in Undergraduate Programmes builds competences for teaching and learning through English.

Vision


The ability to think, communicate and use English is strengthened considerably if undergraduates have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through 21st Century CLIL methodologies, and study part of the curriculum in English.

Objectives

  • Competence in using Content and Language Integrated Learning methodologies within disciplines for successful teaching through English.
  • Ability to actively use the core concepts in English which are required for enabling higher order thinking in undergraduate programmes at UdG.
  • Understanding of how teaching through English is eased through use of 21st century interactive and dialogic methods.
  • Awareness of how digital media can be used to enhance teaching and learning through English.
  • Self-confidence to willingly teach mexican and international students through English.
  • Knowledge of personal skills that need to be further developed in both English language, and the ability to teach through English.
  • Understanding of the professional opportunities and benefits that higher education academics at the UdG can realize as a result of teaching undergraduate programmes in English.
  • Insight into the benefits for UdG students of partial teaching and learning through English.
