LAULUPUU CHOIR OF LAHTI, FINLAND
Laulupuu Choir of Lahti was founded in 1977 in order to give music class pupils an opportunity to develop through demanding choir music. The singers of our choir are from 10 to 17 years of age, the majority of them under 14 years of age.
Laulupuu Choir gives concerts regularly both in Finland and abroad. The Choir also has very long (almost 20 years), co-operation with Lahti Symphony Orchestra including Christmas concerts, classical concerts and recordings. Laulupuu Choir has been invited to perform in foreign countries, e.g. in Canada (ISME-Conference), Sweden, Norway, Hungary and Estonia. The choir has also participated in several international choir festivals and competitions, e.g. in Spain and Hungary (Golden Diploma in Budapest International Choir Competition). In Vienna international choir competition Laulupuu was awarded with high scores and Gold III -Diploma, meaning shared category win and participation in Grand Pize -concert.
The Laulupuu Choir of Lahti is conducted by a music teacher from Lahti Music Classes, Mrs Terhi Hildén. Mrs Hilden has conducted several choirs, e.g. Lahti Chamber Choir.
