LAULUPUU CHOIR OF LAHTI, FINLAND
Laulupuu Choir of Lahti was founded in 1977 in order to give music class pupils an opportunity to develop through demanding choir music. The singers of our choir are from 10 to 18 years of age, the majority of them under 14 years of age.
Laulupuu Choir gives concerts regularly both in Finland and abroad. The Choir also has very long (almost 20 years), co-operation with Lahti Symphony Orchestra including Christmas concerts, classical concerts and recordings. Laulupuu Choir has been invited to perform in foreign countries, e.g. in Canada (ISME-Conference), Sweden, Norway, Hungary and Estonia. The choir has also participated in several international choir festivals and competitions, e.g. in Spain and Hungary (Golden Diploma in Budapest International Choir Competition).
The Laulupuu Choir of Lahti is conducted by two music teachers from Lahti Music Classes: Mrs Terhi Hildén and Maiju Kovanen. Mrs Kovanen is also an organist and pianist. Mrs Hilden has conducted several choirs, e.g. Lahti Chamber Choir.
