The first session in this course gives a strong case in the importance of the context, the changes in the task environment and the societal factor of the country where education is operated and studied. Professor Alava discusses these using two different countries, Finland and Nepal, as example of the importance of the context. One of the major themes in this is session is the strong role of education in nation building and future creation. All this calls a system-wide paradigm shift in teaching and learning.
