Jokioinen's school history

In 1880, things were good, as nearly everyone who turned ten knew how to read, event though the commune was without an education system well into the 1840s. Then the manor switches owners, to Kasimir Bremer, and a circulative school as well as a commune school was arranged. Religion, reading, maths and writing were primarly taught there.

A building by the name of mäntylä was built during the first world war, when the idea of public community schools appeared. The amount of students rose so much in the 1890s, that the old school building was quickly deemed to be too small. According to the new rules, the journey from the students home to the school could not surpass 5 kilometers. And so began the golden era of schools.
The right to learn stepped in in 1921, and the amount of schools doubled.

In 1949, the amount of students had risen up to 789. The Central public schools building started in the 50s, but didnt finish until later. The hall that resided there could also be used for gymnastics and such.

Can you guess what school we are talking about? Our school wasnt always called Miina, but central primary school. The name change stepped in in 2007. Different name suggestions reached over 106, but Miina was chosen.
