The first face-to-face meeting in our NOS-HS workshop series The future of career education in the Nordic countries and self-governing areas was organised on April 21 and 22 in Jyväskylä.

The goal of the workshop series is to map and compare the similarities and differences between careers education programmes in grades 7-10 organised in Nordic countries. In addition, the workshop series aims to establish a network in the Nordics for those interested in the topic career education in grades 7-10.

We think it is safe to say that the second workshop took some quite successful steps towards achieving these goals. We had an intense two days devoted to discussing and expanding the participants’ knowledge and understanding of the theoretical and methodological challenges when studying career education across Nordic countries.

The first workshop included the following activities:

Day 1

-Presentation and discussions on qualitative research methods in cross-national research

Group discussions based on presentations on how to study career education across the Nordic countries

Day 2
- Exploration of possible topics for common articles based on the conceptual map
- Collaborative writing sessions

The next workshop will will take place in January 2023 in Norway.
