Super Similes
When you start the game you will see a &#039;slot machine&#039;. Click the &#039;Spin&#039; button on the right of the machine. As the pictures spin, a simile will appear at the bottom of the machine. Decide which picture finishes the simile and click the checkbox underneath that picture (if you are lucky you will get two or three of the correct picture). Then click &#039;Spin&#039; again. There are three levels in this game but you will need to get all the similes correct in each level before you can move to the next one.
The Grammar of Doom
The Grammar of Doom is an adventure game. You are an adventurer trying to find the secret to the mystical Temple of Doomed Grammar. There are ten rooms in the temple, and each one is full of tricks and traps. You need to use your English grammar and vocabulary to get through the rooms. Each room that you complete gives you one word of the password sentence that you need to finish the game. (Remember the password because you will need it for the next room!) You are told exactly what to do before you enter each room.
Word Building
Words can be given extra meaning by prefixes at the beginning or suffixes at the end. In this game you have to find the right addition to a word to build up the meaning. When you see the part of a word you want, click on it.

If you are right, you get a point. The word will change to show the new form and you can keep building the word. If you are wrong, the game will tell you, and you will lose a point, but you can try again. There&#039;s no time limit, so you can try a different addition to the word, and if you are still wrong you can retry and even keep re-retrying.

Noun attack!
There is a deadly skull hidden in one of the nouns, and it&amp;#039;s coming to get you.
As the nouns advance, click on the noun hiding the skull to shoot it.
You will know your target noun because it is either an ABSTRACT NOUN (round 1) or a COLLECTIVE NOUN (round 2).
The other nouns are innocent words holding bunches of beautiful flowers. Don&amp;#039;t shoot them!
You can only make ONE mistake each round, and you must finish the round before the nouns reach you. Each round gets harder.

Job Hunter Game

First you will see a clue, then click the letters to spell the word. When you click a letter that is part of the jobs&#039;s name, a bit of that picture will appear. If you get all the letters in time, you will see a complete picture and a short description of the job. Start by clicking on level you want to start with.
The Great Hunter Game

If you get all the letters in time, you will see a complete picture and a short description of the animal. As you move from one animal to next your level of tracking skills will change. You start from &#039;City Kid&#039; - see how far you can get. Start by clicking on the part of the world where you want to find your animals (North America, Africa or Asia and Australia).
Animal, Vegetable or Mineral
English people define everything as being either Animal (if it is alive) Vegetable (if it grows) or Mineral (if it isn&#039;t alive, doesn&#039;t grow and comes from the ground.) See if you can sort out these sets. Clink on the level you want to try and drag the boxes to the appropriate columns. You won&#039;t have much time to complete the game so be quick!
Sink or Swim!
Keeping your head above water is an English expression meaning that you are managing to do just enough to keep going. In this game you add suffixes and prefixes to words to change their meaning. Mistakes drag you down, correct answers bouy you up! So, try this game and see whether you sink or swim.
Spell That Country
Country Hangman! The picture shows a flag of a country. You have to guess and spell the name of the country correctly. Put one letter in each box. The maximum points you can get for each country spelled correctly will be shown underneath the flag. You can ask for help but that will cost you 1 point! The total number of points you can get in this game is 114. See how close you can get to this score!
The Fashion Game
Choose set of three items of clothing which go together so that the person is properly dressed. Click on a card to see what clothing is underneath.
English Star
In this game you have to put the items in order. There&#039;s three levels, and you have to complete them all. You have 15 seconds for each question, so be quick. (However, you can ask a friend as often as you want.) When you succeed you start the main game.In the main game your questions get more and more difficult as you go up. If you get stuck, you have two choices. You can go 50/50, or you can ask the computer. If you ask the computer, you have a 75% chance it will be right.We will be adding more questions each week from the Question of the Week database, so remember to come back later and try the game with some new questions.
The Garden Game
Look at the picture, and type the name of the garden object you can see. Every time you get two right your gardener qualifications will be upgraded to the next level, and your garden will become more beautiful. See how far you can get. If you are stuck you can get help on the &quot;?&quot; button.

Click on the blocks to make words that go with the clues on the right. (Make sure that you click the blocks in the right order!)
Pitfall
A pitfall is a metaphor for something which can catch you if you are not careful. In this game you will find words which many people confuse with each other. Can you avoid the pitfall of choosing the wrong word?
When you click start you will see two words and one definition. If you choose the word which matches the definition, you gain one point. If you choose the wrong word, you will see the literal meaning of &#039;pitfall&#039;
Weather Words
You will get a set of moving letters. Click the letters to spell a word. You will see a picture, hear a sound or see a little animation as a clue to the word.
Whose Dragon?
You will see spaces for the personal details about four people. One of them has a dragon as a pet. You have to find out who it is by completing the table according to the information which appears below it. Only fill in the space for the dragon if you are sure. If you are wrong the game will end. Remember to use the spellings and capital letters exactly as you see them in the clues.
The Letter Thief
You are driving a police car to the scene of a crime. To go down each street you need to take one letter out of a word, and put another letter in to give the word a new meaning.
Animal Maze!
You need to spell out the animals to get through this maze. Every time you come to a turning in the maze, you will see a letter. Click on the right letter to go further into the maze. If you click a letter that is not a part of the colour you are spelling, you will get a warning - do it too often, and you have to start again.
Categories
You can see some categories - for example DOGS. But what kind of dogs? When you click START, you will see fifteen cards. When you turn over three cards in one category, click on the category (in white on the left). Keep going until you have used all the cards. Watch the clock on the right. When all the bars have gone, you have to start again.
Games 2, 3 and 4 are the same, but at more advanced levels.

Big Game Fishing
First choose the level you want to play at. Next; click the start button to get a picture. Letters will appear and disappear at random. You have to spell the word which the picture represents. To do so, just click on the letters which you need. But be careful - if you click the wrong letter you lose 5 seconds. Watch the clock! Three levels - Elementary, Intermediate or Advanced.
Similes Crossword
First read the clues. When you think you know the answer, click on the clue, and you will be taken to the beginning of your word. Don&#039;t click on the crossword, or it won&#039;t recognise your letters. If you have written the correct letter, you will be taken to the next space to write the next letter. If your letter is wrong, it will vanish, and you have to try another one. Have fun!

Cannonball Express
When you click the start button a set of words will appear. These words are part of a sentence but they are not in the right order. To make the sentence you will need to shoot each word in the order they should be in the sentence, using the cannon. To shoot just click the cannon. To move the cannon to the left or to the right press the &#039;left&#039; and &#039;right&#039; word. Have fun!
Frog Verbs
Get the frog across the pond by choosing the right lily for him to jump on to. If you click on the lily with the correct past tense form of the verb, the frog will jump there. If you click on the wrong lily, the lily will sink, and the snake will eat the frog. Good luck. Save the frogs!

When you press the START button, you will see a description of a type of transport. Click on the word that is being described. If your English was a kind of transport, what would it be? A luxury car, or an old shoe? Play and see.

How many words can you make using the letters in the box? All your words must have the letter C ! No names, -s or -ed endings are allowed. When you find a word, type it in the the space below the box and press the button to check your word. If the word is not on our list nothing will happen. Otherwise you will get one point. See how close you can come to 28.

From Small to Large
Can you find the 25 words hidden in this grid? When you have clicked all the letters in a word, that word will appear in one of the categories below. The letters with a green background are part of more than one word. Letters that go black when you click on them are not part of a word. If you click more than three of these, the game is over. If you finish the game with 25 words in their proper categories, going from small to large, you have won the game!
Verb, Noun or Both?
When you start you will see three boxes and a word. Decide if the word is a NOUN or a VERB; or BOTH a noun and a verb.
Then click the box it belongs in. If you are right, the word will go into its box. If you are wrong, it will just vanish. Then you will see an example of how to use the word, and the next word.Choose your level

Vocabulary Jungle
You must go through the vocabulary jungle one step at a time. Choose a category, and then go through stepping only on words in that category. You must choose words that touch the square you are on, and you must go forwards. So you always have three choices, unless you are on the top or the bottom of the grid. If you step off the path, you have to start again on another path with another category. On level 1, all word categories make a path through the grid. But in levels 2 &amp; 3, two categories will leave you lost in the jungle!
Make or Do?
First, look at the word in red. Decide whether you use &amp;#039;make&amp;#039; or &amp;#039;do&amp;#039; with this word. Then make a bet, and then click &amp;#039;make&amp;#039; or &amp;#039;do&amp;#039; (in yellow) to see if you were right.
The Prefixes game
Build a tower from suitable blocks. If the block is the right shape, and it has the right prefix for the word that it will fall next to, press &#039;Accept&#039;; otherwise you must &#039;Reject&#039; it.
The Description detective
You are a police officer. When you press start, you will see an investigation. Read the description of the wanted person carefully. Then wait, and you will go to the playground, the airport, a restaurant, and the park . If you see the person in the description, click the person with your mouse.
Rocking English
When you press the start button you will see two lines of a song. The last word is missing. You must decide what the last word is; and you have to get it right quickly, or the singer won&#039;t be able to get out of the way of the rotten tomatoes the audience are throwing.

Trigger Finger
Pick a category and then click as many things as you can find in that category in one minute. Remember to click only foods that English people normally eat (e.g. not snails!), and remember that some foods - e.g. (veal and sardines) are not animals! There are 25 words in each category, so get clicking! Choose the category you would like to play

Gone Fishing
When you have a chance to make a catch, have a look at what is on the end of your fishing rod. If it is a fish, or some seafood, catch it to win some points. If it is rubbish, or a mammal, don&#039;t catch it, or you will lose points. Don&#039;t try to catch any man-eating animal!
