Lecture 4 Political models

Lecture 4 continues with the political approach in the leadership theories. First Lecturer Värri clarifies the concept micropolitics which refers to the political activities inside the school. The focus of the political model is the power. Within the school, there are 6 different forms of power. Please note that principal's authority of expertise in leading the school is crucial. Principals also have the power to allocate all kinds of resources. As the other approaches, the political model has its limitations. It neglects the possibility of collaboration. Thus, we need to use all the approaches in practice.
