In the first lecture we learn not only the numerical outcomes of the PISA- studies, but also learn some of the reason behind the good results in Finland. According to the lecturer, there can be found some reasons why the Finnish education systems produces excellent results. The lecturer emphasizes the specific .. Naturally, there always is raised the question, can the reasons for Finnish success be ‘imported’ to other countries and cultures. There is no clear answer to that, but like the lecturer points out, it is important to follow the development of the educational systems in Finland with certain decision made on the way in order to understand the connection of good results on PISA to the educational systems.
