ヨエンスーでの経験

　最初は、日本とフィンランドの文化の違いに驚きました。授業形態、休み時間、昼食等同じところを探す方が難しかったです。そして、子どもたちの英語のコミュニケーション力にも同時に驚きました。

　少人数クラスでの指導は良いことばかりだと思いました。子どもたちや先生がリラックスした雰囲気の中授業をしていることがよくわかりました。小学校で４５分間授業するにあたり、大事なことだと思いました。フィンランドの子どもたちは、話を聞くのが上手だと感じました。私の英語での話もしっかり聞いてくれました。そして、日本の文化に興味をもってくれたのがとてもうれしかったです。ヨエンスーでいろいろな経験をさせていただきましたが、その中で一番うれしかったのは、前の日に教えた日本語で挨拶してくれたことです。

また、３年生が書いた英語の手紙を日本に持ち帰り、日本の小学校の５年生に見せ、返事を書きました。そういった交流をすることができたのもうれしかったです。日本の小学生もフィンランドについて興味をもっていました。特に、「モイモイ」という言葉が印象に残ったみたいで、ずっと使っているみたいです。今回の経験で、様々な新しいアイディアを得ることができました。

My Experiences in Joensuu

I was so glad to come at Mutalan koulu in Joensuu.

At first I was surprised that cultures and schools in Japan and Finland are completely different. But it brought me a good experience. I was also surprised that elementary school children can communicate well in English.

I found that a small class brings good things to children. The children were learning in a relaxed atmosphere. And the teachers were teaching in a relaxed atmosphere too. I think this is very important things in the elementary schools. That’s why the children could listen to my English carefully. I was happy that they were interested in Japanese cultures. I had various experiences in Joensuu, It is most remembered thing is when some children greeted me in Japanese after teaching greetings in Japanese.

I brought a letter written by a third grader (Mutala school) to Japan and showed it to a fifth grade of a Japanese elementary school. And I was happy to be able to interact by writing a letter and sending it to Finland. They were very interested when I introduced about Finland to fifth and sixth grade at an elementary school in Japan.

Especially, they like to use the word "moi moi", they are still using it.

This experience gives me a lot of new ideas. I will do my best to be a teacher again in Japan.
