This lecture is based on Chapter 1 of Joe Murphy's book. The concept of teacher leadership seems to evolve with time. Murphy's analysis is built on two facts: teacher leadership has been limited within the classroom; education reform will not succeed without teacher leadership and participation. Concerning the Finnish context, Lecturer Risku points out that in Finnish schools, teachers are more motivated to develop their professionalism horizontally than climbing the administrative ladder vertically.
