A warm welcome :)

To honor the foreign partners, the children of our "folk group" prepared a special welcome: dressed with the traditional costume they danced and sang the traditional dances. The also performed some traditional masquerades from Germany, Finland, France Turkey and Ireland. Also parents partecipated to the party by coocking some very appreciated traditional dishes:)

Comenius project

The " Collodi " primary school is pleased to partecipate to the Comenius Project for the years 2009 - 2011. More than a hundred students (from 7 to 10 years old) have been involved in it. They have been divided into 3 groups: the first group had to care the artistic aspects( painting, drawing…); the second one was the “computer” group : they had to made researchs on internet and the third group had to “translate” it in English (with the help of teachers). The most interesting aspect of the project has been visiting masserie and trulli: pupils found going outside the school very exciting and stimulating.

TRULLI and MASSERIE are the typical houses of Fasano (Southern Italy) A TRULLO is a very old house with a CONICAL ROOF. Built with DRYSTONES, it is located in hills . A MASSERIA, instead, is a very big and ancient house similar to a CASTLE. It stands in quiet countryside.

TRULLI

Trulli are dry-stone houses which from time immemorial have been built in the heart of Apulia. The name trullo (pl. trulll) comes from ancient Greek. Il tnotos', which denotes a building with a conic roof. Trulli are made with stones because the Apulian Landscape is rich in stones and also because they were easy to destroy and then rebuilt again...in order to avoid paying taxes...unfair!!! Nowadays the TRULLI has changed their use in summer residences. Since XVII centothey have been used by farmers and shepherds as stores and shelters.

Fasano: between hills and the blue sea...

Fasano is a little town situated in a wonderful position. It stands between green hills and a
light and transparent blue sea (when you'll come, in may, you'll see it). Around the town, there are lots of typical houses as farmhouses and trulli where you can spend relaxing holidays ,especially in spring and summer.You can have baths,take the sun and do long walkings along the beaches.You can also taste many kinds of typical meals,such as "orecchiette con cime di rapa, mozzarelle,bruschette,"and different kinds of savoury vegetables. You can also visit places where people do particular milk products and hand_made pasta.So........see you in May!!!!!!!!!!!
