Goal: Write a short Halloween story! This task will help you practice using English words and sentences to tell a spooky story. Don’t worry about being perfect—focus on having fun with your ideas!

Part 1: Getting Ready to Write

Exercise 1: Describe a Haunted Place

Imagine you are in a haunted house, spooky graveyard, or dark forest. Describe what you see, hear, or feel. Use simple sentences. Try to write 3 sentences.

Example:
"I see an old, dark house. I hear the wind make strange sounds. It is very quiet and scary."

Exercise 2: Create a Character

Now, think about a person who will be in your story. Who are they? Why are they in this spooky place? What are they afraid of? Write 2-3 sentences about them.

Example:
“Ben is a 15-year-old who loves adventure. He goes to the haunted house to look around, but he is scared of ghosts.”

Exercise 3: Add a Spooky Element

Choose one spooky thing for your story, like a ghost, strange noises, or a hidden door. Write one sentence to describe it.

Examples:

“Ben hears a loud scream in the dark.”
“A ghost follows Ben in the house.”

Part 2: Write Your Story

Now it’s time to write! Use your ideas from the exercises to make your story. You only need to write 1-2 sentences for each part.

1. Start the Story

Describe your character arriving at the spooky place. Describe what they see and hear.

Example:
“Ben walks into the old house. It is dark and cold. The floors creak when he walks.”

2. Add Something Scary

Write what scary thing your character hears or sees. This is the spooky element from Exercise 3.

Example:
“Ben hears a whisper behind him. He turns, but no one is there.”

3. Make a Scary Moment

Write about something that makes your character feel very scared. Do they run, scream, or hide?

Example:
“Ben sees a ghostly figure in the hall. He runs to the door but it is locked!”

4. End the Story

Tell what happens to your character at the end. Do they escape? Are they safe? Or does something strange happen?

Example:
“The ghost gets closer. Suddenly, Ben wakes up. It was all a dream!”

Final Tips

Use Simple Sentences: You don’t need long sentences. Focus on being clear.
Describe What You See and Hear: Try to help your reader feel the story.
Keep It Short: 150-200 words, or around 15-20 sentences.
