On tärkeää tulevaisuutta varten oppia hakemaan töitä, asioimaan vieraidenkin ihmisten kanssa.<br/> TET:stä ja sen järjestelyistä oppilas sopii työnantajansa kanssa eli saa tuntumaa työsopimuksen tekemiseen. TET ohjeistetaan koululta oppilaalle sekä kirjein huoltajalle ja TET-työnantajalle esim. TET:n tarkoituksesta, säännöistä, työajoista, ruokailun ja kuljetuksien järjestämisestä.<br/> <br/> TETtiin voi myös kuulua TET-tehtäviä, joista oppilas itse huolehtii selvittäen vastauksia mm. työpaikan vastuuhenkilöltä. Tehtävien on tarkoitus tukea oppilasta kyselemään ja keskustelemaan työstä, työpaikasta ja sen tehtävistä sekä ohjata oppilasta arvioimaan itseään, kiinnostuksiaan ja vahvuuksiaan suhteessa työhön ja sen vaatimuksiin.<br/> <br/> TET:n päätteeksi oppilas saa TET-todistuksen suoriutumisestaan.
