Describe the most impressive experience during the exchange relating to our topic "migration".

The most impressive experience during the exchange to our topic "migration" has been the visit of the refugee center in Helsinki (Finnland). It was cool to see how the natives and the refugees worked together and especially how the refugees who have been in Europe for a longer time helped the ones who just arrived or needed help for example by starting a buisness.

Before our trip to Helsinki we visited an accommondation for refugees under 18. It was in the middle of nowhere and looked quiet sad. The place itself was okay and the empoyees of this place have been very friendly and the kids seemed happy. But I guess that itis not a good solution to keep the refugees in the countryside with no neighbours. There is no chance of immigration and exchange.

I suggest to offer refugees a place more close to a city, where they have access to offices, shops and contact to people and socciety like they did it in Helsinki.

What value does the participation in this project have for you?

Firstly I valued the time to learn, to talk and to experience more about the topic "immigration" together with other people not only from Germany, but also from Poland and Finnland. And this brings me to my second point I valued the time and the exchange with the people from Finnland and Poland. I made friendships which lasted longer than the actual exchange and I am happy to stay in contact and hoppefully meet some people again one day:)

How do you judge your own tolerance and openness when it comes to inclusion of immigrants at school and society? Did the participation in this project change anything about it?

I see no point in it to treat immigrants differently than natives. Except the one that we should offer them help by learning our language and culture, but more as an exchange.

The refugee crisis shows how instable our system is and it is not a one-sided learning progress. Both sides have to learn how to solve upcomming problems and how to live in a multicultured world, where we accept and value each other.

My tolerance and openess did not change during the exchange. But I am happy and greatful for the opportunite given to me to learn more about the topic and to actually EXCHANGE with others. Because I think that meeting and talking with people from all over the world expand our understanding and this is the key to tolerance and opennes and to a more peaceful world.

0 kommenttia

We finally managed to make pedanet work
awesome
now we will work on the project
YEAH!!

10.3.2017: Today we presented our "a lesson for a foreigner" videos. They were all pretty good.
After that we made in small groups also videos about the 20 friednly phrases. After lunch we visited Veronicas music lesson. It was good, but different to the german music lesson.
In the evening we met at a camping place and had fun together( we went in sauna, eating sausages and did a poetry slam)

11.3.2017: Satarday we had time with our family. I went shopping, some went karting. In the evening only the students met again for another party.

11 kommenttia

Hi. I´m David and I´m 16 years old.
I´m part of this project, because I want to know, ho imigration in other parts of europe is working.
I´m also looking foward in meeting new people and cities.

01.02.2017

On 01.02.2017 we went to an Emmigration Museum in Bremerhaven. We had to charaktars two follow along their journey. One person who emigrated from germany and the other one, who imigrated to germany as one of the persons, who wanted to work in germany in 1967.
My emigrated person was „Carl Laemmle“. He was the founder of the Universal Studios and emigrated because he wanted to be in the USA like his brother.
My imigrated person was „Recep Keskin“. He wanted to work in germany like many other foreign workers . I think, this is a really cool museum with a lot history, but I think it would be better to have more time then just three hours.

This is the website of the museum: http://dah-bremerhaven.de

From 06.03.2017 to 13.03.2017

In the next hours, we will start our journey to Kotka to the first exchange of our program. My expectations are getting to know a land, I haven´t been before and meeting people, I haven´t met before. I expect to speak a lot english. Furthermore I want to learn how migration and integration is going on in other parts of the europe.

08.03.2017

On 08.03.2017some people from a youth shelter near Kotka visited our project. They told us about what they are doing in the shelter. It was interesting, but it would be better if both of them would have spoken english, because it was hard to follow them and their presentation. They just spoke some words english so two students had to translate and the presentation was in finnish as well. Later that day we visited the shelter. We saw how the young people live and could talk to them about their future plans. This was really interesting because I haven´t been in a shelter like this and talked to refugees before.

09.03.2017

On 09.03.2017 we visited a „start up refugee project“. They are helping refugees, or how the call them: „Asylum Seekers“, to build up their own store, e.g. a barbershop, to earn their own money. It was really interesting, because in germany we don´t have such projects. We could talk to some of the people working there and get a good view of how they are working in such projects.
I think such projects are missing in germany, considering of how many refugees came to germany in the last years.

15.04.2017

On 15.04.2017 as a famliy we visited the emigration museum in hamburg, called „Ballinstadt“. This museum is all about the emigration from hamburg to the whole world. This is a really nice museum but with a lot statements to read. If you want to visit this museum as an english speaking person it´s really hard for you, because all information are in german.

This is the website of the museum: http://www.ballinstadt.de

08.10.2017

On 08.10.2017 we had a theory day in the school for the erasmus project. We had to creat posters for eight different topics about migration. My group had to prepare something about the dublin regulation. After preparing them we showed our poster to the other groups. Then we had to film a video about how to solve migration problems. This was interresting, because we learned some new stuff, but most of it was already taught by our economics and politics teacher.

09.10.2017

On 09.10.2017, we drove with a bus to a monastery from the benedictine convent. We talked to a monk and some refugees, who got church asylum. This was really interresting, because I didn´t know about this possibility to stay in a land. They are also safe in the monestary and can´t be taken away be the goverment.

10.05.2018 - 13.05.2018

During the time of 10.05.2018 - 13.05.2018 I was on a christian camp. Their were next to the normal visitors also three refugees. They were fully integrated and no problems with the language.

1 kommenttia
