Lecture 1 Introduction to Adaptation

Organizations are growing and becoming more and more intercultural every day. This is setting new challenges for the organisations. Both individuals and organisations need to adapt to new situations all the time. In this lecture Dr Kokkonen talks about adaptation and the adaptation process in general. We get to meet the participants of the course, which helps us to understand their views and opinions in the future. Dr Kokkonen uses the group as an example when she talks about how interpersonal relationships affect the adaptation process.

Discussion 1/6: Think about yourself entering a new group or environment. How could the leader help you in the adaptation process? Post your idea on the platform. Read also other texts and comment at least one.
Personal development plan. Reflect your thoughts, readings and the lecture. What sort of skills would you need as a leader to help the adaptation process of your subordinates? Where and how could you gain these skills? Update your PDP accordingly. The PDP will be submitted at the end of the course. Please find more detailed instructions here.
