Independence day party we had at our school

Ivalo upper secondary school had an independence day party that was also a party, where this year’s last students graduated the upper secondary school, finally got their white hats.

The party started with a speech of our principal, Ulla Hynönen. After the speech there was the Finlandia Hymn played solo with a saxophone by Ronja Ojala. Ronja played her instrument really well, even though she told later on that she was very nervous.

After Ronja’s show, it was the turn of other second graders. They had their speech given by Ilari Jutila and Maria Karsimus and their own band played a song by Zen Café. The second graders also received the Message of freedom from the third graders. It is a message given by our war veterans to the younger generations. They want to remind us about the horrors of war.

Then, it was finally time for the “fourth graders” to get their white hats. The hats were given by the principal Ulla Hynönen and vice-principal Riitta Roininen.

Finally there was a speech by Esko Mantila and then all the students and guests were offered free coffee and cake in the school canteen.
