Koulumme
sijaitsee
Lehtimäen taajamassa, 10 500 asukkaan Alajärven
kaupungissa,
Länsi -Suomen läänissä,
Etelä-Pohjanmaan
maakunnan koillisrajalla. Lähietäisyydellä,
Töysässä, sijaitsee kuuluisa
Keskisen
kauppakeskus, "Suomen suurin kyläkauppa".
Kaukana ei ole myöskään
Ähtärin kaupunki
eläinpuistoineen. Naapuripitäjässä,
Soinissa, on
Vuorenmaan rinnehiihtokeskus. Kuuluisimpia
nykylehtimäkeläisiä lienevät
ministeri Eino
Uusitalo ja kuvanveistäjä Antti Maasalo
.

Yleistä Taimelan
yhtenäiskoulusta
Koulumme
on Keskikylässä,
entisen Lehtimäen kunnan keskustassa. Taimelan koulu
rakennettiin
1957 ja laajennusosa valmistui 1987. Lukuvuoden 2009-2010 koulumme oli evakossa
ja rakennus täysremontissa. Lukuvuosi 2010-2011
päästiin aloittamaan
uudenveroisissa,
ajanmukaisissa tiloissa.
Taimelan
koulussa opiskelevat
luokat 1-9, lisäksi koulun kyljessä toimii
harjaantumisopetusta
antava erityisluokka,
jossa on oppilaita myös Soinista. Taimelan
oppilasmäärä
on tänä lukuvuonna n.166; opettajia koululla on 18 ja koulunkäynnin ohjaajia 11.
Alakoulun puolella kukin vuosiluokka opiskelee omana
ryhmänään.
Yläluokilla 7-9 on käytössä
jakso-opetus: siellä
lukuvuosi jakautuu kuuteen osaan, ja jaksotodistukset annetaan joka
jakson
päätteeksi. Vaihtelua koulurutiiniin tuovat
ystävyyskouluvierailut,
muut vierailijat, teemapäivät, juhlaruokailut ja
urheilutapahtumat. Pienen
koulumme henki on mielestämme hyvä. Myös
opettajainhuoneessa puhalletaan
yhteen hiileen.

Virossa, Aren kunnassa.

Koulun
opetussuunnitelma
on jatkuvan itsearvioinnin ja kehittämisen
kohteena. Kahdeksannella ja yhdeksännellä
luokilla oppilaamme voivat valita vapaaehtoisia kursseja melko laajasta
valikoimasta. Jatkossa oppilasmäärän ja
valinnaisaineisiin käytettävän
tuntimäärän väheneminen karsinee
tosin myös
valinnaisaineiden määrää.
Koulumme peruspyrkimyksenä
on antaa oppilaille valmiudet pärjätä hyvin
jatko-opinnoissaan,
minne he sitten yhtenäiskoulustamme eteenpäin
suunnistavatkin.

The
Village of Lehtimäki
Lehtimäki
is
situated in the north-eastern part of the province of Western
Finland,
about 350 kilometres north of the capital Helsinki. It is located
in the middle of a peaceful countryside. We are a part of Alajärvi
town, where the population
is about 10 500. Another town nearby is Ähtäri,
about 30 kilometres from Lehtimäki. The zoo
in Ähtäri has an extensive collection of Finnish wild
animals,
and in the neighbourhood in Töysä
you can also find the famous Keskinen Shopping Centre, which
is among
the biggest ones in Finland. The neighbouring municipality Soini
has a fine slope
for slalom.
The
main tourist attractions
in Lehtimäki are the wooden church,
built in 1800, the impressive Council House as well
as the
Valkealampi ski resort for cross-country skiing at winter. At
summer,
the shores of Lake Ähtärinjärvi, and a
number of other lakes,
attract not only fishermen but also a lot of holiday makers - there are
more than 350 summer cottages in the village. There are also plenty
of cabins and cottages for rent if you are interested in a peaceful,
relaxing
holiday by a lake.
Among
the best known persons
from Lehtimäki are Mr. Eino Uusitalo, ex-minister of the
Finnish Government,
and Mr. Antti
Maasalo, a
widely recognized present day artist.
The
Taimela School Centre
The
present schoolhouse was
built in 1957. It has been repaired a few times, and a new annex was
built
in 1987. The school building has was thoroughly renovated in 2009-2010, and the new
school year 2010-2011 was started in new and very modern facilities.. The number of pupils
is around 166, and
there are 18 teachers and 11 school helpers working in the school. In grades
1-6 each grade studies with their own teacher; there are no combined
classes. The principal is Liisa Nygård.
In
grades 7-9 the school
year has been sequenced into 6 periods, and the pupils study only a few
subjects
during a period. School reports are given after every period, that is
six times a school year. Variety to the school routine is brought by
friendship school visits, by other visitors, by special subject days, by feasts
and sporting events.
We
find the general atmosphere
in our school friendly and good. Our school
food is tasty and free of charge.
In
the 8th and 9th grades
the pupils have many elective courses to choose from. We have
a partner
school in Are,
Estonia, and
every year there is a school visit, either to us or to Are.
The educational plans
and curriculum of our school are under constant self-evaluation and
scrutiny.
The students from our school continue their studies in a wide variety
of
secondary schools. We want to give them the best possible basis for any
future studies.
We
are very interested in all kinds of international contacs, EU
-programmes,
etc.
